But when the City of Oakland failed to finish the process of starting the tax increment financing district and with it, the needed subsidy that would cause new infrastructure to be built for the ballpark, Las Vegas became the preferred relocation choice.By April of 2023, as the City of Oakland produced a draft tax increment financing use plan, the Oakland A’s were before the Nevada Legislature, putting the finishing touches on the Southern Nevada Tourism and Innovation District.
